Building a relationship with your kids is very important and critical for their development.  There are many things you can do to keep the fun and joy in parenting.  Over the last week I have compiled a list of great ideas to do with your family.
  • Read bedtime stories for 10+ minutes each night- This will help your child’s imagination while giving your child personal attention that he/she already craves.  This will also help build your child’s vocabulary as well.
  • Plan a family game night- Having a game night can really give you some great family memories and lots of family quality time together while having tons of fun.
  • Go for a walk around the neighborhood- This is a great way to connect with your kids and get fit at the same time.
  • Ask about their day at school- Asking your child how their day was gives them a sense of pride.  They get a chance to express their accomplishments and daily discoveries while gaining your attention.
  • Bake cookies together- This is a great hands-on activity to share with your kids while getting a special treat at the end!
  • Sing aloud together in the car- Singing in the car to funny and crazy tunes can help you all connect on a personal level while being silly.
  • Tell them how much you love them- This is critical for your child’s well-being and development.  This gives them a sense of comfort and the feeling of security to know their parents love them.
  • Plan a one-on-one date with your child- Me and my husband like to do this with all our kids individually.  Gives them something to look forward to and makes them feel special.  Helps you build a stronger relationship with your kids also.
These ideas are just a few that I have compiled for you as a parent to try when connecting with your child.  There are so many other ways to spend time with your kids and I will make a post every week listing many different ways to continue bonding with your kids also.
